Changing of the Guard
Posted by Shah on Thursday, April 22, 2010 (02:45:50) (43 reads)

I'm sure everyone in the guild hall has now heard that Py and I are leaving the game for an extended period of time. We're not certain when or if we'll be coming back, but we don't intend to disband the guild. I sent an email to the Council members that I had email for last week to start discussions on how everyone wanted to handle the transition. Py and I will be logging on Friday night to step down and turnover leadership to whoever has the time and dedication to continue.

I will say that the last 9+ years leading Ravenclaw in EQ1 and EQ2 has been both a trial and oftentimes a triumph. The time has just worn Py and I both to the point that we're burned out. Too many RL commitments between kids/school, my work travel, the house, etc... The website will be staying up to keep forums active for everyone who wants to keep tabs on other Ravens - regardless of what guild name or game they may be playing, if they're playing at all.

Thank you, everyone, who has helped make the time Py and I have spent leading this guild rewarding, and especially all those who have bled, sweat, and cried with us.

-Shah

Web server maintenance complete
Posted by Shah on Monday, January 04, 2010 (04:22:15) (41 reads)

Well, it didn't go as smoothly as I expected. After swapping out hard drives, and restoring a clone image of the server, trying to use the website tools to restore the last second backup I made of just the website fragged everything, so I had to start over. The site is back up now, but any posts for the last 2 days are gone.

For our raids, NEXT WEEKEND we will be trying to wrap up all Myth updates for the last folks that need them. EVERYONE who needs updates outside VP needs to feed me that information BY WEDNESDAY!!! Buik and I will have our zones picked out by Thursday, and if you haven't spoken up, you're going to need to find pick up raids, or folks selling updates. This coming weekend is the LAST weekend I want to spend on Myths before the expansion hits. The remaining weekends, I want to spend on TSO content, and getting ready for the expansion.

JUST TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE IS CLEAR - OUR REGULAR RAIDERS WILL HAVE PRIORITY FOR ALL SLOTS ON THESE RAIDS. PEOPLE WHO DON'T RAID WITH US REGULARLY MAY JOIN IF THERE IS ROOM AVAILABLE. NO REGULAR ALLIANCE RAIDERS WILL BE ASKED TO SIT TO MAKE ROOM FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T ATTEND OUR EVENTS REGULARLY OR PUT EFFORT INTO THE SUCCESS OF OUR RAIDS.

Add three more names to the notches on our bedpost!
Posted by Shah on Saturday, October 17, 2009 (17:22:47) (63 reads)

WELL DONE Friday night! We made it through several more VP names and earned several more mythicals for our raid force.
Added to our list of kills are:
Taskmaster Nichok

Xygoz

and Qunard Ashenclaw

I still don't get why Xygoz was the one all the other dragon kids picked on when there was a kid on the schoolbus named Qunard tho.... /boggle... I don't think I'll ever understand dragon logic...

We go back in tonight to do our first runs against Hoshkar and Druushk!!! We're on the cusp of having this zone on farm and moving on to TSO X4 content!

/ROAR!!

Nexona Down! /ROAR!!!
Posted by Shah on Sunday, October 11, 2009 (04:37:07) (66 reads)

WELL DONE RAVENS AND ALLIES!!! After only a few real runs on Nexona, we have finally dropped her. Gratz to Mercikill on being the first Mythical we have earned as a raid force. Time to celebrate guys! Even with the devs pulling the dps ceiling on her fail conditions, she's still the toughest mob in VP.

Gratz Canteum on the kill shot!

Hopefully everyone else is as stoked as I am right now. I'll be working with our mentors and other experienced raid leads to get good strat info posted in our forums. Please make sure the mythical progression thread is updated with your info. I'm gonna have my work cut out for me figuring out what toons we need to swap in and out for each fight to ge the updates we need, and what core toons we must keep in for each fight to succeed. Everyone keeping that info up to date for me to go back to will be a tremendous help.

WELL DONE!!! We still have a lot of work to do as far as concentrating on what each person has to do during the fights, but tonight was proof positive that we've got what it takes to learn the hard fights and succeed.

Raids and DKP
Posted by Shah on Sunday, September 27, 2009 (17:57:03) (93 reads)

For everyone who has been unable to find your DKP balance since I killed our EQDKP module (couldn't ever get it to work right), Raz has been posting the .pdf report from his custom designed database in our forums. It's updated weekly, so what is there is what's current.

So that everyone is CLEAR on what the expectations are - every player is responsible for making sure Raz has an EMAIL with a complete listing of your main and alts. It's not Raz' responsibility to guess who is who. I expect everyone to take the 2 minutes it takes to get that info sent - either in game or out - to Raz. Tells in game aren't acceptable - it needs to be in a mail format that he can go back to later if need be. It is every players' responsibility that Raz has the info needed to keep your DKP balance straight - NOT his.

When you go to our Forums, there is a sticky in the RAIDS section titled "DKP Totals" - this is where you will find the .pdf maintained at. Make sure you check your balance before each raid so that we don't have to stop what we're doing to get info everyone should already know. This will minimize the delays we have in our raids, and help us get through these zones faster.

Thanks!
- Shah

VS Down!
Posted by Shah on Sunday, July 19, 2009 (19:44:46) (134 reads)

Great run on VS last night guys. Now we have a lot of people keyed for CoD, and we got quite a few folks their 2nd Myth updates. We need to do some backtracking to gear up a few more folks, and we need to help a couple of others out with AA specs for use during raiding, and casting orders, etc, but we're just about ready to head into VP and start seeing members across our raid force collect their Myths.

Well Done By All!!

Venril is goin down next Friday
Posted by Shah on Sunday, May 17, 2009 (04:36:58) (223 reads)

OUTSTANDING run on VS tonight all. Got him down to 36% after only a handfull of tries. Everyone did a great job coordinating power, and working through the cures. The extra soulcube we got for Sorath tonight in Thuuga after we left VSL should put us over the top as long as we can keep our focus when we come back next Friday.

Key things we learned:
1. MUST use a sprint macro vice manual toggling of the sprint hotkey. When you get feared, you CAN'T toggle it off and your power goes to zero.
2. Everyone needs to show up with a full stack of Noxious pots and a good number of dedicated clarity potions. Freedom of mind will also be a good thing as well as the signets you can get from the peddlar. Save the freedom of mind and other stun/stifle cures until we're near the 60% hp range on Venril. Recast is long on them.
3. Using the strat of slowing dps at 75% to get everyone in the window, then just doin a slow autoattack/debuff/dot run on him seems to be the most effective for our raid force. With an 8% chance to get stunned/feared when you damage him, not using CA's with low damage is a very good thing unless they land a solid debuff or dot. I did not notice being stunned off dot ticks - just initial hits. Our priests must no do damage to him so they avoid the stun.
4. We need everyone in voice chat - that is an absolute must. I understand when we get the voice chat bug our hands are tied, but we have to be able to communicate quickly for this fight, and typing out to burn power or use clarity pots is a show stopper. Do everything you can to be in raid chat so you can listen to commands.
5. Do not AFK without letting myself, any other raid leader, or your group leader know.

All in all, we kicked ass in my opinion. It was VERY obvious how quick everyone learned AND adjusted their play each successive run we did. Everyone kept their cool, and no one pointed fingers and screamed at people. Granted we pointed and laughed, but it's all in good family fun, and if we can't laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at Smile

Every Raven and All our Allies in the raid made me HELLA Proud tonight. You guys rocked it, flat out. 36% on the most challenging named fight our raid force has ever tried. This bastard is soooooo gonna die next Friday...

WELL DONE ALL!!!
- Shah
